Triple Falls aka Twin Falls in Jasper, AR is the simplest, yet most fun trail you can go to- it’s a whopping .03 miles. Park in the designated spots & then head to the falls. Super easy & so entertaining!
Getting there drives you through some of the most beautiful parts the state of Arkansas has to offer- you will love the scenic drive. Look for the Camp Orr turn off, there’s a parking lot & a small building there. I’ve been here twice now & each time I’ve passed the initial turn & had to turn around. But!!! Driver beware, once you get to the Camp Orr turn off you are in for a very long 1.8 mile down an all gravel hill. For fellow small car drivers you are going to have some serious doubts about your car making it back up. I turned off my road traction & went up it in a low gear & we made it just fine. But, there were several times I got nervous I wasn’t going to get the car back up & there is zero cell signal. But if my Accord can do it, I bet your car can too!
I’ve been to Triple Falls twice, once in July & then in March. Both times there was plenty of water flowing & the falls were great. You will enjoy the simple walk in (look for the trail that will take you to the top of the falls on your right), once you’re at the falls you can do some major exploring. We would have taken our shoes off & splashed our feet in the water if it had been warmer.
We love seeing the falls, but our favorite part is following a trail up to the top of the falls & taking a look down below. And then walking down the creek bed to see where it can take us. The kids climbed trees, downed logs, looked at flowers, water animals, & spent a good amount of time exploring. Make sure you factor that time into your trip! And be careful at the top, there are no railings. Just a metal rope that is down on the ground.
There are no bathrooms, so if you or the kiddos need to stop before you drive down there you can do that in Jasper. The actual town of Jasper is “scenic & quaint”with all kinds of outdoor activities to do. The Buffalo River was the first National River ever in the United States & Jasper is where the river starts to flow. There’s a campground I’ve been following on Instagram, Dogwood Springs Campground, & the next time I swing by Jasper I’m going to take a look at it. I’ve been wanting to take the kids on some awesome hikes in that area & this would be a great spot to check out to see if we’d like to stay the night for extra time to adventure this part of the Buffalo. They have everything from cabins to tent camping with very reasonable prices.
I added a video of our Railroad Gilbert Trail & the Triple Falls trail, plus a lot of photos of the Falls! Enjoy!
