Sometimes, we don’t all have time for a big weekend or week long trip, but we do have time for a day trip. Plan your day for this one with an early start & get home a little bit later. We do these day trips all the time! These are only 3 of hundreds of day trip possibilities in this area. And the good news??? While I mapped this trips from Northwest Arkansas, you can map it from the Central Arkansas area too!

Leaving from Northwest Arkansas you will drive to Whitaker Point to see the most famous ledge in Arkansas. When you’re done hiking, you will loop back to Boxley Valley & see if you can spot the wild Elk Herd. Head to Jasper to eat at the Ozark Cafe for the best post hike shakes & burgers you’ve ever had.

Leaving from Northwest Arkansas you will drive to Rush Ghost Town to experience Arkansas’s history & preserved town that is taken care of by the National Park System. Hike the 3.6 Mile Ghost Town Loop at Rush! Take the 50 minute drive you need to take over to the Tyler Bend area & go swimming at Grinder’s Ferry!

Leaving from Northwest Arkansas you will drive to Lost Valley Hiking Trail to experience the waterfalls, caves, go spelunking, see a natural bridge, & enjoy Arkansas in all her beauty on this diverse trail. You can also head over to Boxley Valley to see the wild elk herd & visit Jasper from this hike too. And if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can add in another hike to hike at Sweden Creek Falls!
